One bowl orange, black sesame & yoghurt loaf with whipped date butter (GF)
This simple, one-bowl orange, black sesame seed, and yoghurt loaf is light, moist, and full of a delicate citrus flavor—plus, there’s no need for a mixer. Greek yoghurt keeps it lovely and tender, while fresh orange adds a bright, zesty kick. Serve it warm or toasted with a generous spread of whipped date butter and a dusting of icing sugar if you wish.
Serves: 6
Prep time: 10 minutes Cook time: 50 minutes
3 eggs
1 cup coconut sugar
Zest of 2 oranges
Juice of one orange
1 cup Greek yoghurt
1⁄2 cup olive oil
1 1⁄2 cups gluten-free flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp black sesame seeds (or poppyseeds) Pinch salt
Preheat the oven to 170°C fanbake and line a loaf tin with baking paper.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, coconut sugar, orange zest, juice, and yoghurt until smooth. Drizzle in the oil and whisk to combine.
Add the flour, baking powder, black sesame seeds, and salt. Stir until just combined—it may look slightly lumpy, but it will smooth out as it bakes.
Pour the batter into the prepared tin and bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
Allow to cool slightly before slicing. Serve with whipped date butter and a dusting of icing sugar, if you wish.
